5 differences between Neoship and a carrier

Neoship is not a carrier. We explain 5 key differences between a dispatch system and a courier company.

Discover 5 differences between Neoship and a courier company and choose the best solution for your e-shop.

Sometimes we come across a misunderstanding about what Neoship actually is and the fact that it is not just another courier company. Yes, our services also include parcel transport (in cooperation with our partners – the transport companies).

BUT … our main mission is above all to help e-shops in Slovakia simplify and streamline their dispatch processes through easily accessible automation. And secondly to give them a fast, detailed view of their dispatch, thanks to our own dispatch system with comprehensive functionality. To make it clearer and easier to follow, we have prepared a detailed comparison of our services with a carrier's services. In the lines below we go through them in detail across 5 big areas.

1. Services

As we outlined above, the first and most basic difference lies in the services offered.

A transport company

A transport company focuses primarily on logistics, so for e-shops it offers collecting and delivering parcels. As part of its services it also offers the option of using its own dispatch system. If you use more than one transport company for parcel transport, you sign a contract and receive an invoice from each of them separately. At the same time you use a different dispatch system with each of them. (We will look at dispatch systems more closely in a separate section.)

Neoship

At Neoship we focus above all on developing ready-made dispatch solutions for e-shop and invoicing systems and on developing our own dispatch system. As part of a comprehensive service package we also arrange parcel transport for our customers. For parcel transport you can currently choose from 4 courier companies: SPS, GLS, 123Kuriér and Packeta, and combine them in various ways.

You can see how Neoship works in our instructional video.

If you decide to use our services, you sign a contract with us alone. You do not sign any other contract with a carrier. The advantage is that you pay for the transport, the system and the e-shop or invoicing system integration in a single invoice.

2. The dispatch system

A transport company

Every transport company has its own dispatch system. It serves above all to upload parcel data (via CSV, XML or through an API) and to give an overview of delivery. That is its main purpose.

Neoship

If you own an e-shop, you have to get the data from your orders or invoices onto the shipping label somehow, and then to the carrier. That can happen in three ways: a, copying the data manually b, exporting/importing data via CSV/XML files c, automated dispatch

A transport company

If you use any transport company, you can upload data from your e-shop into its dispatch system using a CSV or XML file. That file, however, often has to be set up or developed individually for the particular carrier. If you want to automate these processes, you generally have to expect that developing and activating a module or plugin will cost you something. Transport companies also have stricter and more limited options for connecting over API.

Neoship

When it comes to creating parcels in bulk, you can upload CSV or XML files generated from any e-shop or invoicing system into Neoship. For various e-shop and invoicing systems we have ready-made, easily activated and often free integrations prepared in Neoship. We wrote about them in more detail in the article: Choose Neoship and get more than just parcel transport for your e-shop.

Thanks to these integrations you print labels straight from your e-shop or invoicing system, the data is sent to the carrier's system and you can track the shipment directly from the admin. We have plugins like these ready for e-shops and invoicing systems from CREATIVE sites, NEONUS, POHODA, SuperFaktúra and also for the open source solution WooCommerce.

For PrestaShop and Shoptet we have integrations that bring the data into Neoship automatically. The whole dispatch, including label printing, takes place in Neoship.

In general: since we focus on development, we have more flexible and broader options for individual integration over API.

4. Customer service

If you need to get in touch with the carrier, you have to call their customer line. Often you have to wait to be put through to the right department. An e-mail address is of course available too. But everything has to be handled from different places.

Neoship

In Neoship you have e-mail communication under one roof and you do not have to think about who to write to if you want to cancel a COD amount, redirect a parcel or file a complaint. Right next to every parcel there is an option to write a request, which is forwarded to the carrier. The request is dealt with this way and at the same time the parcel stays specially marked so that it is easier to keep track of and find. Besides these notification options, you can contact the Neoship customer line at any time during working hours by phone, e-mail or online chat directly in the Neoship app.

5. E-mail notifications

The e-mail sent by the carrier is a standard information e-mail containing all the essential details about the parcel's delivery.

Neoship

The e-mail sent from Neoship contains not only all the essential details about the delivery. You can insert a logo, choose a colour combination, write your own unique text, add interactive links to it and send it in one of five language variants (SK, CZ, DE, EN, FR). The e-mail is also responsive and includes direct parcel tracking. Your e-mail to the recipient can look like this:
